Interlace knot ornaments
Two clusters of tightly woven interlace knots are drawn in red chalk, one near the top of the sheet and a smaller looping motif in the middle, built of intertwined bands. They are decorative ornament studies of the kind Leonardo devised for knots and friezes.
Confluence of watercourses
Toward the foot of the sheet faint red-chalk lines sketch the meeting of watercourses, as noted in the catalogue description. Long curved strokes suggest converging currents joining below.
