In red chalk the upper half of the sheet carries two ornamental roundels of looped, interlaced knotwork. Below them a low horizontal band gives a cross-section of a river bed, its points lettered q p o m n a and captioned by sediment: gravel from a to n, sand from n to m, sand from o to p, and gravel from p to q. The two studies share the page without a connecting note.

Interlaced knot roundels
Two roundels of looped, interlaced knotwork are drawn in red chalk across the upper half of the page. The bundle labels them only as decorative designs. Further faint chalk lines around them are present but untranscribed.
River-bed profile lettered by sediment
A cross-section of a river bed is divided by the points q p o m n a. The bundle captions the zones as gravel from a to n, sand from n to m, sand (rena) from o to p, and gravel again from p to q, recording how sediment sorts across the bed.
