The single note states that the deeper below the surface the object dividing the water lies, the less sand it leaves behind it. A large open box-like frame is drawn in red chalk in the lower half, with fainter pen scribbles and a red-chalk bank profile above. Leonardo notes that the more distant from the surface the thing that divides the water is, the less sand it leaves behind it. The remark links the depth of an obstacle to the deposit it leaves downstream.
