A sling-like release in which each arch straightens, making an almost circular motion
Two diagrams show a system of arched springs set against one another so that they mutually tension, their parts lettered a through p. The note reasons that when arch a performs its natural motion the others act in the same instant, since on releasing the sling each arch straightens by itself. Leonardo leaves open whether they all unlatch in a single moment, observing that the resulting motion is great and almost circular. A tripod stand supports the lower assembly.
