Profile head in an ornate cap, with a small planimetric survey
Red-chalk head of a youth in a jewelled cap; a north-oriented distance plan
Folio 3r is dominated by a red-chalk profile head of a young man wearing a tall, folded cap bound with a jewelled band. Below and around it, in ink, is a second planimetric survey drawn upside-down: a curved outline with a north indicator (tramontana) and the lettered points a, b and c. The measured segments are a-b 950 and b-c 2100.

Profile head of a youth in an ornate cap
A young man is drawn in red chalk in sharp profile, facing right, wearing a tall folded cap fastened by a decorated, studded band. The study focuses on the clean contour of the face and the elaborate headdress.
North-oriented distance plan
An ink scheme drawn upside-down sets out a curved line through the points c, b and a and marks the direction of north (tramontana). The recorded distances between stations are a b 950 and b c 2100.
