A finely drawn red-chalk figure, partly gone over in pen, shows a young warrior kneeling in profile. He wears ornate scale-and-plate armour patterned with six-pointed stars and crosses, holds a sword upright by the hilt, and steadies a tall shield or broad blade against his body. A small separate emblem or device is sketched at the upper left of the sheet.

Kneeling warrior in decorated armour
The youth kneels in profile, his hair braided beneath a cap, wearing a cuirass and skirt of plate and mail. He grips a sword by the hilt in his raised hand and steadies a tall shield or broad blade against his shoulder.
