The lower two thirds of the leaf carry Leonardo's 'Rule of power', a proportional law relating force, weight, distance and time. At the upper left an angular ink diagram is captioned as the plan of a fortress, identified as the fortress of Urbino, and at the upper right a small open box with a rod set across it is drawn as an 'open cube'. Rule of power: force, weight, distance and time
If a power moves a weight a certain distance in a certain time, half that power moves the whole body half the distance in the same time, or the whole distance in double the time. Alternatively the whole power moves double the weight over half the distance in the same time, or moves the weight half the distance in half the time.
