The main entry, written upside-down, itemises the making of a cloak (cappa) for Salai on 4 April 1497: silvery cloth, green velvet trimming, ribbons, small buckles, the labour and a front ribbon, coming to lire 26 soldi 5. A separate note added in pencil records that Salai stole 41 soldi. The sheet is a household account concerning Leonardo's pupil-servant, laid out as a boxed list of costs.

Itemised cost of Salai's cloak
Dated the 4th of April 1497, the account lists 4 braccia of silvery cloth at lire 15 soldi 4, green velvet for trimming at lire 9, ribbons, small buckles, the making, and a ribbon for the front. It closes noting he has 13 grossoni of his own, with a total of lire 26 soldi 5.

Added in pencil, a terse memorandum records that Salai stole 41 soldi, one of Leonardo's recurring notes about the small thefts of his young assistant.
