A gantry with pulleys, a winch drum, and a small balanced beam with weights
Faint pen sketches, headed as machines and schemes for digging a moat, fill the sheet. At the top a framed gantry with crossed diagonal braces carries pulleys and a hanging load; below sit a large frontally drawn winch drum on its axle, a smaller drum, and at left a little diagram of a beam hung with weights. A brief note beside the balance gives the figures 1 1 - 2. Together the drawings work out how a hoisting rig might lift earth cleared from an excavation.

Gantry, pulleys and winch drum
A tall frame with crossed diagonal braces carries pulley blocks and a suspended load at the top. Lower on the page a large wheel-like drum is shown head-on on its axle, with a smaller drum beside it, forming the winding gear of the hoist.
Balanced beam with weights
At the lower left a short horizontal bar hangs weights from either side, a balanced-beam study. A jotted note gives the ratio figures 1 1 - 2, comparing the loads carried on the two arms.
