A boxed mechanism dated 1502, with a plan of roads, water and a drain
A boxed mechanism with a projecting lever and shaft is sketched at the centre-right of the leaf, captioned as a mechanical device Leonardo records seeing at the fair of San Lorenzo in Cesena in 1502. Turned onto its side, the same sheet also carries faint ruled lines forming a plan whose labels name roads, water and a drain (colatoio). The two studies share the page: a machine noted on the spot and a topographical layout.

Mechanical device from the Cesena fair
A small boxed mechanism is drawn with a horizontal arm reaching to a disc at the left and a lever hanging from its right side. Leonardo notes he saw it at the fair of San Lorenzo at Cesena.

The caption ties the device to a specific occasion, the fair of San Lorenzo at Cesena in 1502, one of Leonardo's dated jottings from the Romagna campaign period. It fixes when and where he observed the mechanism.
