A column of numbered circles marks the degrees of descent
The folio states a proposition on falling bodies: if bodies of the same weight and shape are dropped one after another at equal intervals of time, the excesses of their intervals will be equal among themselves. A marginal column of circles numbered 1 to 10 charts the successive degrees of descent, while the demonstration invokes earlier propositions (the fifth and eighth of the first) relating velocity to distance. A separate line of mirror-script runs vertically down the inner margin and is not included in the transcription.

Equal excesses in the intervals of successive falls
Bodies of the same weight and shape released one after another at equal times leave intervals whose excesses are equal among themselves. The proof rests on the rule that a falling body gains equal degrees of velocity at every degree of motion, so the last body from the bottom moves much faster than the first from the top.
Column of circles numbering the degrees of descent
A vertical column of circles set at increasing intervals is labelled from the second circle downward as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. The widening gaps stand for the growing distances covered in each successive degree of descent.
