Perspective study: arcade, staircase and figures
Ruled linear perspective of a piazza with an arcade, a long staircase, and scattered figures and horses.
The sheet lays out an architectural setting in rigorous linear perspective: at the left a two-storey arcade of round arches beside a long flight of stairs, and at the right an open pavement whose paving lines are ruled to converge toward a single vanishing point. Among and around the architecture are numerous small, lightly sketched figures and rearing horses with riders. The construction lines remain visible across the whole sheet, and the Uffizi collection stamp appears at the lower right.

Ruled linear perspective of a paved court
The whole scene is constructed on a grid of ruled orthogonals that converge to a single vanishing point near the centre, fixing the recession of the paved floor. The perspective lines run visibly across the architecture and figures, exposing the geometric scaffolding beneath the design.
Arcade and monumental staircase
At the left rises a two-storey structure with an arcade of round-headed arches carried on piers, adjoined by a long straight flight of steps ascending to an upper level. The masonry is modelled with shading beneath the vaults and arches.
Rearing horses and riders
Scattered across the right-hand space are lightly drawn horses, several of them rearing, together with mounted and standing figures. They animate the open pavement between the architecture and the far ground.
