Pen and wash figure study
A single chubby nude infant is studied in pen and wash, bending forward over his raised hands as if grasping or playing with an object, his legs drawn up and one foot extended. The modelling concentrates on the rounded belly, buttocks and limbs, with the head bowed and heavily shaded. Faint faded ink inscriptions run along the upper edge of the sheet; they are not transcribed here.

The bending nude child
The infant leans forward and downward, both hands brought together before the face as though holding or reaching for something. The soft, rounded forms of belly, thighs and buttocks are worked up in wash, while the bowed head is left in deep shadow.
