Head of a young person with curly hair, eyes lowered
Pen study of a downturned youthful head; a fainter second head sketched at right
The sheet is dominated by the head of a youthful figure with abundant curly hair, the face turned down and to the left with the eyes lowered as if in reverie. The features and ringlets are drawn in fine pen strokes over a faint preliminary outline, while the neck and shoulders are only lightly indicated. A second, much fainter head is sketched to the right, and a later ink inscription appears at the lower right corner (not transcribed here).

Youthful head turned down and to the left
A young person's head is carefully modeled in fine pen: soft cheeks, a small mouth, and eyes cast downward under lowered lids. The hair falls in tight curls and ringlets framing the face, and the throat and shoulders trail off into faint contours.
Faint repetition of the head at right
To the right of the finished head, a second head of similar type is sketched very lightly and left barely worked up. It reads as a trial or repeated contour rather than a completed study.
