Study of an infant's head and shoulders
A baby drawn in three-quarter profile, head lowered, bust bare, in economical outline
A tender study of a young infant, shown head and shoulders with the face turned in three-quarter profile and the eyes lowered. The rounded head, plump cheeks, small features and soft bare torso are caught in a few economical pen lines, with an arm and hand suggested at the lower left. The drawing is light and rubbed in places against a stained ground, and a later inventory number ('212 F') is written at the lower right.

Infant's head in three-quarter profile
The child's head is drawn with a high rounded crown, full cheeks, a small nose and mouth and lowered lids, the ear indicated at the side. The soft, babyish forms are rendered in a few sure contours.
Bare bust and suggested arm
Below the head the plump chest and shoulders are outlined bare, and at the lower left a raised arm and small hand are lightly sketched. The lower body is left summary, keeping the focus on the head and torso.
