Portrait Head of a Man in a Beret and Gorget
Chalk head study of a man looking upward, in a soft cap and armoured collar
A man's head is drawn close-up in chalk, turned in three-quarter view with the eyes raised and the gaze directed upward. He wears a broad soft cap or beret over curling hair, and a plated gorget or armoured collar with rivets encircles the neck at the base of the sheet. Faint inked notes appear in the lower left and right margins and a collector's stamp sits at the lower right; this further text is present but untranscribed here.

Head of a man gazing upward
The face is seen slightly from below, the eyes lifted and the lips parted, giving an intent upward look. Curling locks escape from beneath a wide soft beret, and the ear and jaw are firmly modelled in chalk. The armoured gorget at the neck is drawn more summarily, its studs indicated at the front.
