Cavalry locked in furious combat
Interlocked horsemen and rearing horses in a violent battle scene
A densely worked pen-and-wash battle scene fills the sheet: mounted warriors collide at the center, their rearing horses tangled together with straining necks and open mouths. Helmeted riders lunge and grapple over raised weapons while beaten soldiers sprawl beneath the horses' hooves. No transcription accompanies the drawing; a small collector's stamp appears at the lower right.

Rearing warhorses at the heart of the melee
Two powerful horses collide head to head at the center, muscles taut, mouths open and manes flying. Their crossed bodies form the pivot of the whole composition as they press against one another in the crush of the fight.
Helmeted warriors straining for the weapon
The riders lean far forward with arms flung up, faces contorted in effort and rage beneath crested, ornamented helmets. Their twisting torsos and reaching limbs convey the violence of the struggle overhead.
Swords, lances and a fallen shield
Swords, a long lance and other arms cut through the tangle of bodies, while a round shield and a helmet lie amid the defeated figures at the lower left. The scattered arms mark the ferocity of the close-quarters combat.
