No. 37: man in a flat cap
An old man is shown in right profile wearing a broad flat cap. His face is deeply creased with a jutting nose and receding mouth, and the collar and shoulder are lightly indicated.
No. 38: grotesque in a soft hood
A caricature head faces left, the skull wrapped in a soft cap or hood that drapes to one side. The features are compressed into a heavy, coarse profile with a bulbous nose and protruding lips.
No. 39: bald man with prominent brow
A near-bald man appears in right profile with a strongly projecting forehead and brow. His cheeks are drawn into deep folds above a sagging jaw and pursed mouth.
No. 40: figure in a banded cap
A head in right profile wears a rounded cap secured by a band across the brow. The face shows thick, everted lips and a heavy jaw, with drapery sketched over the shoulder.
