Character studies of aged men, one in a tall pointed cap
Four grotesque head studies numbered 45 to 48 are mounted on this plate. They include a figure in a tall conical cap seen in profile, a heavy bald man with a very large head and thick lips, a small tuft-haired caricature, and a stubbled man in a turban-like headdress with a downturned mouth. No autograph text accompanies the drawings; the corner numbers are cataloguing marks.

Man in a tall pointed cap (no. 45)
A gaunt figure wearing a tall conical cap is drawn in profile to the right, the body only lightly indicated below. The narrow face has a sharp nose and receding mouth.
Heavy bald man (no. 46)
A broad, bald man with an outsized head faces left in profile, his features compressed into thick lips and a fleshy nose. The neck and rounded skull are strongly modelled.
Small tuft-haired caricature (no. 47)
A small grotesque head faces right with a few tufts of hair standing up from the crown. The profile is exaggerated with a jutting nose and chin.
Stubbled man in a turban (no. 48)
A man wearing a twisted turban-like headdress faces right in strong profile, his mouth turned down and jaw covered in stubble. The features are deeply lined and severe.
