Standing Male Nude with Ornamental Frieze Studies
A striding nude above a band of scrollwork and decorative fragments
The upper half of the sheet holds a black-chalk study of a standing male nude, striding forward with one arm raised and leaning against a stump-like support at his side; the muscular torso and legs are modeled with firm hatching. Below, a horizontal band of flowing scrollwork ornament runs across the sheet, and beneath it are further sketches of cartouches and decorative fittings. Old handwriting in the margin and a collector's stamp indicate untranscribed inscriptions the bundle does not include.

Striding male nude
A muscular male nude stands with his weight forward, one arm lifted and the other lowered, leaning against a stump-like support at the left. The body is worked up in black chalk with strong parallel hatching that models the torso, hip, and thighs.
Band of scrollwork and decorative fragments
A long horizontal band of undulating scrollwork ornament crosses the middle of the sheet, and below it further sketches show cartouches and decorative fittings terminating in scrolls. The motifs are drawn freely in chalk.
