Holy Family with an Angel and the Infant Baptist
Pen-and-wash devotional composition of the Virgin, Child, angel and saints
A pen and reddish-brown wash study of a Holy Family group. The seated Virgin bends over the Christ Child, who is held at her side and reaches out, while a kneeling winged angel and a second infant (the young Baptist) crowd in at lower left; at right an elderly bearded man leans on a long staff. An old inventory number is inscribed at the upper right corner. The bundle provides no transcription for the sheet.

The Virgin and Child
A seated woman in a veil and mantle inclines her head; a naked infant is supported at her right side and lifts a hand. The two form the pivot of the composition.
Kneeling angel and infant Baptist
At lower left a winged angel kneels beside a small child who reaches upward. Their overlapping bodies fill the left foreground.
Elderly man leaning on a staff
At the right an old, bearded man in loose robes rests both hands on a tall staff and gazes toward the group. He is drawn more lightly than the central figures.
