Studies for a Virgin in Glory and a Group of Figures
Pen studies for a religious painting: the Virgin amid angels above a crowd of figures
The upper half of the sheet shows a standing female figure with hands clasped in prayer, ringed by angels and putti amid billowing clouds, laid out as a compositional study for a Virgin in glory or Assumption. Below, drawn much more faintly, a dense band of standing and kneeling figures is massed in a shallow foreground, suggesting a study for a crowd or adoration scene. Both are rapid pen-and-ink figure compositions rather than finished drawings. No transcribed text accompanies the sheet; only later inventory numbers and a collection stamp are visible.

The Virgin in glory among angels
A frontal standing figure with veiled head and clasped hands occupies the center, her drapery falling in long folds over a cloud base. She is surrounded on both sides by clustered angels and putti, some winged, sketched loosely to fill a rounded glory of clouds.
Lower composition of massed figures
The lower half is filled with a faintly drawn crowd of standing and kneeling figures arranged across a narrow foreground plane. The grouping reads as a compositional trial for a multi-figure religious scene, with heads and gestures blocked in rather than finished.
