Study of a Sleeping Nude Infant
Red and black chalk study of a reclining sleeping child
A red and black chalk study of a nude infant asleep, lying on its side with the head resting to one side and the limbs relaxed and folded. The soft modelling gives real weight and volume to the small body. An old ink inscription and a collection mark appear along the lower edge of the sheet; the bundle provides no transcription.

Sleeping nude infant
A naked child lies asleep on its side, one arm bent beneath the body and the legs drawn up. The rounded forms are built up with soft red chalk and reinforced with black, closely observed from life.
