The scene extends across a low, rolling landscape dotted with trees and a rocky rise at the left edge. Loose ink strokes suggest ground, foliage and distance.
Grazing animals, dog and hare
Several heavy animals graze in a group at the right beneath the trees, with a dog standing among them. In the foreground a hare runs with ears back across the empty ground.
Peasant figures at left
At the left two or more small figures move through the landscape, one seated low and leaning forward as if working the ground. They are sketched rapidly in outline.
