Red-Chalk Study of a Horse's Head in Profile
Faint sanguine study of a horse's head turned to the right
Drawn in soft reddish chalk, this study shows the head of a horse in profile facing right, the muzzle lowered and the ear laid back. The lines are light and rubbed, giving the sheet a delicate, faded appearance. A collector's monogram stamp appears at the lower right.

Horse's head in red chalk
The profile of the head runs from the pricked-back ear down the long face to the muzzle, with the eye lightly indicated. The chalk is faint and partly rubbed, so that the neck and lower contours fade away into the paper.
