Figure Studies: Standing Nude and Muscular Torso
Red-chalk sketches of nude figures, an embracing pair, and a male back
In red chalk the sheet gathers several nude figure studies drawn at different scales. A tall standing nude with one arm raised occupies the centre, beside a pair of figures locked in a struggling embrace; a smaller crouching figure is set at the lower left, and a strongly modelled male torso seen from behind, a cloth wrapped about the hips, fills the lower right. The bundle supplies no transcription for this leaf, so the description rests entirely on what is drawn.

Standing nude with raised arm
A slender nude stands in the centre of the sheet, one arm lifted overhead and the weight thrown onto one leg. The pose is worked from the raised shoulder down through the hips to the planted feet.
Embracing pair
Beside the standing nude two figures grapple in a close embrace, their heads brought together and arms interlocked. The group reads as a study of two bodies pressed against one another.
Muscular male back
In the lower right a broad-shouldered male torso is drawn from behind, the musculature of the back firmly modelled and a length of cloth gathered about the hips. Only the upper body and one arm are carried to any finish.
