Oblique obstacles that dam a current
Objects set transversely in an equal current and inclined toward one bank dam back more water the more obliquely they are turned against the incoming flow. The part of an object that rises above the common course is most struck by the rebound of the water whose obliquity most resembles that of the current.
Air replacing water poured from a vessel
The air that restores the emptying of the water poured from a vessel enters through the mouth of that vessel and passes to the surface of the water by the shortest way.
Fractions and numeric calculations
The right leaf is scattered with fractions and short numeric workings. The source notes that a few faint pencil jottings here are nearly effaced.
Ornamental pen flourishes
Curling, interlace-like pen flourishes and a feathery doodle appear across the right leaf, apparently pen trials rather than a finished design.
