The sheet is crowded with small floor plans and sectional views of a building, showing rooms, doorways and staircases drawn in plan. Two notes trace lettered circulation routes through the interior: a path entering at a, turning through o, c and b to reach the hall, and an alternative set of routes p-r-q and m-n. A note labels a plan c b — o a. The entrance at a turns at o and comes out at c, turns at b and runs directly from b back to a, reaching the hall through door a; alternatively the circuit is a b c o a.
Alternative circulation paths p-r-q and m-n
From a one climbs to r, turns at q and comes out at n a; or one turns at p and comes out at m a. The route may be run in reverse, and the heads (ends) of the halls must never be interrupted.
Grid of building plans and sections
The upper two-thirds of the sheet is filled with a dozen small orthogonal plans and sectional sketches showing rooms, partitions, doorways and at least one staircase, studies of the layout that the lettered routes describe.
