Geometric interlace (knot) design
An interlaced ribbon pattern within a rectangular frame, part dotted construction and part inked
The sheet is filled with an interlace (knot) design set within a ruled rectangular frame. The upper part is laid out in fine dotted (pricked) lines as a construction, while the lower part is worked up in solid ink into interwoven ribbons that loop and cross in a symmetrical woven pattern. The catalogue notes the leaf bears no writing.

Interlaced ribbon knot
Woven ribbons cross over and under one another in a balanced, symmetrical interlace, the kind of knot pattern Leonardo repeatedly explored. The lower half is finished in solid ink while the upper half remains a dotted construction.
Dotted construction of the pattern
Fine dotted guide-lines lay out the geometry of the interlace before it is inked, showing the regular framework of arcs and angles underlying the woven ribbons.
