Gear-tooth mechanics with decorative knot designs and number tables
The lower part of the sheet shows a wheel with weights applied, with a note comparing the teeth of two wheels set nine ounces apart and judging the arrangement 'a good method' for gearing. A short column of figures works out related numbers. The left third of the sheet is filled with untranscribed decorative interlace knots and braided friezes, while toothed wheels, radial pin-wheels and star figures fill the centre and upper right.

Wheel with weights and paired toothed wheels
Points n, a, b, m are marked with a nine-ounce interval from wheel to wheel. The wheel above has two 'contradictions' in the teeth a b, while those from n to m are all 'in favour', so that they may be a very great number against the two named wheels; and this, Leonardo notes, seems a good method.
Column of worked figures
A block of arithmetic accompanies the wheels: 37, 2, 12, 12, 196, 4, 801, 450, then 37 6/12, '9 ounces', 37, 122, 450 and so on. The nine-ounce spacing of the gearing note recurs among the numbers.
Interlace knots and braided friezes
The left third of the sheet carries a dense array of decorative knot and interlace patterns, cruciform interlaces and long braided borders. This ornament is drawn but not included in the transcription.
Toothed wheels and radial pin-wheels
Several wheels ringed with teeth or projecting pins, together with spoked and radial figures, are sketched across the centre and upper right, alongside small star-shaped geometric figures.
