An ornithopter whose wings twist, turn and drop by levers, balanced from the point N
The upper drawing is a large winged flying machine, labelled with the operator's position and the point M-N-m where 'the heart comes'. A detail below explains the wing mechanism: element a twists the wing, b turns it with the lever and lowers it, and d raises the lever. The pilot keeps his feet at f g and works them alternately so that as one presses down the other lifts the wings, whose balance M N is hung from the top N so the wings fall partly down and partly back toward the man's feet.
