Faint Mechanical Sketches Revealed by Restoration

Catalogued as invisible before restoration and recorded as devoid of writing, this leaf in fact carries extensive faint drawings brought out by conservation. They include circular geared assemblies and a cylindrical roller mechanism, coiled helical screws or springs, and triangular, perspective-like geometric diagrams in the upper left. No transcription accompanies the sheet, so the drawings can be described only from what is visible.

Geared assemblies and a roller mechanism
Across the middle and right of the sheet are several compact mechanisms built around circular, gear-like wheels, and a horizontal cylindrical roller or drum. They read as studies of geared devices, though none is labelled.
Coiled helical screws
Toward the lower center and lower right, tight coils are drawn as helices, suggesting screws or coiled springs. Their spiral turns are the most distinct forms on the otherwise faint leaf.
Triangular, perspective-like diagrams
The upper-left corner holds several triangular figures with small framed squares set within converging lines, the kind of proportional or perspective construction Leonardo often sketched. They accompany the mechanical studies without any caption.
