A red-chalk map of central Italy naming towns, lakes and the Tiber
This sheet is a map of central Italy drawn largely in red chalk, its relief rendered by rows of hachured hills and its valleys by winding watercourses. A long list names the places set across the territory — from the Chiane, Terni and Orvieto, through Viterbo, Sutri and Baccano, down to Rome, Ostia and the Tyrrhenian shore, and around Lake Bolsena. At the centre the principal river is labelled the Tiber (Tevero).

The principal river threading the map is labelled at its centre as the Tiber (Tevero).
Red-chalk relief and river network
Ranges of hills are drawn as banks of red-chalk hachures, between which rivers and lake-basins wind across the sheet, giving the territory a modelled, bird's-eye relief.
