Drawn largely in red chalk, the leaf shows several mechanical figures: a teardrop-shaped casing enclosing a spiral impeller wheel, a rosette-like ring made of many small toothed wheels, and a radiating star of spokes ending in small knobs. The transcription notes a first figure labelled 'Tempo' (Time) and a vertical column of numbers, suggesting studies of clockwork or geared wheel-trains. Faint grey lines of the recto's ray diagrams also show through the paper.
