Toothed Wheel, Lantern Pinion, and a Balance Sketch
Sheet turned on its side; faint mechanical studies with the numbers 8-3 and 35-8
The leaf, drawn with the sheet turned onto its left side, carries faint pencil and red-chalk mechanical studies. A large toothed wheel meshing with a lantern pinion (a cage of spindles) dominates the centre, and a smaller schema reads as a balance. Only the bare gear-ratio and weight numbers 35-8 and 8-3 accompany the sketches. Further faint, untranscribed drawing survives across the sheet.

Toothed wheel meshing with a lantern pinion
A cog wheel or geared drum is set to drive a lantern pinion (a rocchetto a fuselli, whose teeth are spindles between two discs). The only note is the pair of numbers 35-8, apparently the tooth counts of the meshing pair.
Balance schema
A schematic drawing that the cataloguer reads as a balance is annotated only with the numbers 8-3. It sits among the mechanical sketches with the sheet turned onto its side.
