A lifting instrument carries a plumb line with the note that it is a level to keep the device straight.
Balance schemes with numbered arms and loads
Several beam diagrams distribute numbered loads along their arms (1, 2, 3, 4 against 4, 1, 5; then 3, 1½; 2; and so on) to test how weights balance across the lever.
Device for experimenting on weights
