Gears and worm-screws, with beans painted at their sprouting
Mechanical studies across the sheet, a perspective interior, and a colour study of legumes
Mechanical drawings fill the sheet: gear trains, worm-screws and ratchet parts, centred on a large geared device at the left. A small perspective sketch of an arched interior sits at the upper right, and at the lower right are painted clusters of beans or lupins studied at their sprouting, annotated with a note naming fodder, hazelnuts and fava beans. Brief notes describe working a part with a screw from the opposite side and making the heads before the points, and a jotting reads 'If it was ever done, tell me.'

Gear trains, worm-screws and a large geared device
Gear wheels, worm-screws and ratchet parts are sketched across the sheet, centred on a large geared mechanism at the left. A note beside the larger machine explains that from the opposite side it is drawn with a screw.
Beans and lupins studied at sprouting
Clusters of legumes are painted at the lower right and annotated: beans or lupins tinted at their sprouting, with fodder, hazelnuts or fava beans named. The note attends to the seeds at the moment of germination.
Maker's note on order of work
Among the machine drawings a note instructs that the heads are to be made first and then the points.
Small perspective sketch of an arched interior
At the upper right a light perspective sketch shows an interior with arched openings, drawn as a small architectural study among the mechanical notes.
A jotting: 'If it was ever done, tell me'
Toward the centre a brief phrase is written, reading 'If it was ever done / Tell me.'
