Winding mechanism with a pivoted wheel
A note on the central device states that the 'female' part lies on the upper side and that the pole of the wheel serves as its pivoted centre. The drawing shows a horizontal frame carrying rods and cords drawn taut over a wheel. Gear, screw and pulley assemblies are sketched alongside it at the left.
Three weights in equilibrium
At the lower right three weights are noted in balance as 5, 10 and 10. They accompany the lever-and-cord scheme, testing how a load is distributed across the mechanism.
Inverted calculations
