Covered Wheeled Bridge Crossing to a Battlemented Wall
A roofed bridge on wheels spans the water toward a crenellated rampart
The recto is dominated by a large roofed bridge or gallery mounted on wheels, drawn in perspective as it spans a stretch of water toward a wall crowned with battlements. The transcription records no writing of Leonardo's own on this side, noting that the sheet was invisible before restoration and bears no script. The faint apparatus and lines of text visible at the lower right are show-through of the mill note and mechanism drawn on the verso. The structure reads as a portable covered crossing designed to reach a fortified position.
