A tall pulley block is drawn in red chalk and reinforced in brown ink, its several sheaves reeved with rope and topped by a suspension hook, with a load hook below. Faint red-chalk frame or housing studies stand at the right. The accompanying note announces a general rule on the contact of the pivots and of all weights, tying the drawing to Leonardo's study of block-and-tackle mechanics. A short block of mirror-script sits at upper left.

Multi-sheave pulley block
A tall rectangular block houses several sheaves reeved by a continuous rope and is suspended from a hook above, with a lower hook to take the load. The mechanism is laid in with red chalk and worked over in brown ink. Faint red-chalk frame studies appear to the right.
Rule on the contact of pivots and weights
The note states that mention is made, and a general rule given, concerning the contact of the pivots (poles) and of all weights. It frames the pulley as a case within Leonardo's mechanics of weights and their bearings.
