The lower half of the sheet shows two related apparatuses in which a cord-wound drum on a tall stand hangs a weight over a shallow basin. A caption explains that for the weight to spin on its own axis the hole marked a must be 'latino', that is, wide or loose. Scholarly tags note that here a single cord bears a doubled load and that the load is distributed over two cords. A large toothed-and-sprung mechanism across the top of the leaf is drawn but not transcribed.
