Unequal cords bear the same weight unequally
The shorter, more angled cord feels the greater load (marked 'not yet tested')
A slight diagram shows a beam hung from two cords of unequal length and slope, one pulling it aside. Leonardo states that when two cords support the same weight but differ in perpendicularity or obliquity, they are not equally burdened: the shorter cord, making the larger angle with the beam, feels the greater share. A heading marks the proposition as not yet tested.

The shorter, more angled cord takes the greater load
If two cords support one and the same weight but are not of equal perpendicularity or obliquity, they are not equally burdened by it. One feels more weight than the other in proportion as it is shorter, and as the angles it makes with the line of the cords and with the upper beam where they are fastened are greater than the other's.
