Weights on cords: equal angles load both ends alike
Two suspended rods with weighted cords, and a rule from Leonardo's 'Theory'
Two horizontal rods are drawn hanging weighted boxes from cords that meet at an angle, the loads gathered into V-shaped hangings. Leonardo cites the ninth proposition of his 'Theory' of weights: a load hung on a transverse cord between equal angles burdens each end of the cord equally, and the distance of the ends from the weight makes no difference. The whole is headed as confirmed by experiment.

Weights act in balances along the line of their perpendicular. By the ninth proposition of his 'Theory', a weight attached to a transverse cord between equal angles burdens each end of that cord equally.
