Mechanical sketches: linkages, screw press and wheel
Lazy-tongs linkages, a screw and nut, and a large perforated wheel; only 'wheel a' is labelled
This leaf is crowded with rapid mechanical studies in faint metalpoint and ink: pantograph-like lazy-tongs (scissor) linkages across the top, a vertical screw held in its frame or nut, and a heavy cylindrical device paired with a large disc pierced with holes in the lower part of the sheet. The only transcribed marks are the letter 'a' and the words 'wheel a' labelling two of the figures. Much of the drawn mechanism carries no accompanying transcription.

Lazy-tongs (scissor) linkages
Across the upper half of the page run several pantograph-like scissor linkages, their pivoted bars extending and folding, drawn lightly to study how the crossed members carry motion.
Screw press and perforated wheel
At the right a vertical screw is set within a rectangular frame; at the lower part of the sheet a cylindrical body is drawn together with a large disc pierced by a ring of holes, suggesting a screw-cutting or indexing apparatus.
The labels 'a' and 'wheel a'
Two of the figures are lettered: one bears the mark 'a' at the top right, and another is labelled 'wheel a' at the top left, identifying a wheel among the sketches.
