A tall timber lifting frame rises at the centre of the sheet, its cross-braced trestle carrying two vertical threaded columns and a geared drum for raising a heavy load. At the upper right a small cross-shaped diagram gives the layout of the machine's wheels, captioned as the foundation of the cart's wheels and their placement. The sheet belongs to Leonardo's studies of hoisting and moving heavy weights on site.

The central machine is a tall braced trestle carrying two vertical threaded columns and a geared drum, a jack-like frame designed to raise a heavy load along its screws.
