Place-names of the Arno-Serchio survey, in yellow marsh and blue river wash
A watercolour bird's-eye survey map of the lower Arno valley around Pisa, its rivers, ditches and marshes tinted in yellow and blue-grey. The two transcribed blocks are the map's own labels: one column of place-names for folio 52 verso, another for folio 53 recto, naming towns, bridges, roads, ditches and waterways such as Pisa, the Arno, the Serchio, the Fiume Morto, Caprona, Bientina and its lakes. The sheet belongs to Leonardo's cartographic survey of the Arno territory noted in the codex dossier.

Place-names along the Serchio and lower Arno (folio 52v)
A running column of localities set down the sheet from top to bottom and left to right, among them the Serchio, Ponte al Serchio, Fiume Morto, the Arno, Pisa, San Piero in Grado, Rotta d'Arno and the castles of Cascina. Roads, bridges, ditches and a marsh (Padule) are named alongside the towns.
Place-names of the Pisan plain and Bientina marsh (folio 53r)
The facing column names Asciano, Agnano, Calci, Vico Pisano, Bientina and the Lakes of Bientina, Caprona, Verrucola, Calcinaia, Cascina, Fornacetta, Pontedera and the river Era, with the roads of Pisa and of the Hill. These labels correspond to the meandering blue river and yellow marshland drawn on the visible page.
