The heavier body descends faster on the same slope; motion and the growth of a circle; sheets of geometric sketches
A busy sheet combining a short mechanical note with abundant geometric sketching. Leonardo states that on one and the same incline the heavier body moves the faster, and separately that motion does not make a circle or its circumference grow in proportion to the circle, with a small series 1, 2, 4. The heavier body descends faster on the same slope
On one and the same incline, so much the swifter motion will be made by one heavy body than by another, as it is of greater weight. A red-chalk sketch of a ramp bearing a body, lettered a, b, c, d, illustrates the case.
Motion and the growth of the circle
Motion does not make the circle, or its periphery, increase according to the proportion of the circle. A small numeric series 1, 2, 4 is set beside the note.
Lune, curved-surface and rosette studies
Much of the leaf is filled with small studies of lunes and curved-sided figures, hatched vault- and shell-like surfaces, circles with inscribed figures and pinwheel rosettes with curved blades. They continue the notebook's quadrature of curved figures.
Centralized radial and cross-in-square plans
At the upper and centre-left are centralized figures resembling ground plans: an octagon spoked to a central circle, a rotated square enclosing a circle, and concentric squares set as a cross about a central circle. Their radial symmetry recalls centralized plan schemes.
