Defining percussion between equal bodies; species that fill lit air
A sparse page of definitions. A blow is defined as the terminus of a forced motion driven into a resistant object in indivisible time, and it is shown that when a body strikes its exact equal, the struck body takes on the whole blow and flees while the striker is left powerless. A third note, headed 'Perspective,' describes how illuminated air fills with the 'species' of the bodies and colors within it, for which the eye becomes target and magnet.

What a blow is
A blow is the terminus of a motion caused by force and carried out by bodies into resistant objects, accomplished in indivisible time.
The equal struck body flees, the striker is spent
When a struck object is the exact equal of the one that struck it, it receives into itself the blow, weight, and motion of the first and flees from its place, leaving the striker there wholly deprived of all its power.
Illuminated air fills with species, and the eye draws them
As soon as the air is illuminated it becomes filled with an infinite number of species, caused by the various bodies and colors within it. Of these species the eye becomes the target and the magnet.
