The sheet is filled with rapid pen studies of the mechanism that would drive the wings of the flying machine, showing framed uprights, cylindrical rollers, cranks and connecting rods in several arrangements. The few words are working annotations: two of the mechanisms are marked good, one keyed to the head (capo). Further variants of the same drive are sketched without text. The page is almost entirely graphic, exploring how to transmit power to the wings.

The propulsive mechanism is drawn as framed uprights carrying cylindrical rollers with cranks and rods that would work the wings. Leonardo marks one arrangement good and another good at the head (capo), noting the parts he judges sound.
