Peg-lifters with a scroll wheel
Two vertical rods studded with pegs or teeth are engaged by spiral (clothoid) wheels that would raise them as the wheels turn. Round scroll and pinion elements between the rods complete the lifting gear.
A note on proportion
An unfinished note opens with the words such proportion, evidently pointing to the ratio governing the lifting mechanism. The thought breaks off without stating the figure.
Column of figures
In the lower right corner a small column of numbers is set out, paired values among single digits. They appear to record the proportions or dimensions worked out for the mechanism.
